It’s World Blood Donor Day on June 14. This is a day for raising awareness about the global need for safe blood, as well as thanking blood donors for their life-saving gifts.

On average, 117.4 million blood donations take place in a year, 42% of those happening in high-income countries. The willingness to donate blood differs from country to country, with Saudi Arabia being the leader for willingness to give blood.

However, as a result of the pandemic, there’s a shortage of blood collection across the globe. Considering the fact that adequate blood supply is the key aspect of ensuring optimal health treatment, it’s important to replenish it all the time to prevent shortages.
