How to Add Charts to Presentations for Better Engagement

22.03.2017 by Anete Ezera

If you’re in the process of building a presentation or report, chances are you have data you’d like to include. We know you want to present your data quickly, and you want it to be memorable. Sharing the right charts can be the key to a persuasive presentation.

Infogram makes it easy to create charts and graphs to add to presentations. We are going to show you how to integrate Infogram’s charts with your presentation tool to create a better, more engaging slide deck.

We’ve made a short video to walk you through the process. You can also scroll down for a more in-depth look at how to add Infogram charts to your next presentation.

Make a Chart

Starting an Infogram project is easy. You have the option to create a new infographic, report, chart or map. Or you can import data from external sources such as your computer, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive and a JSON file. If you’re not sure which chart to use, we’ve broken it down for you here.

While you can download individual elements of an infographic, we suggest you work with one chart at a time when designing with a presentation in mind. This gives you more flexibility when adding your charts to your presentation software.

Customize Your Chart

Transparent background

If you are preparing to download a PNG, you can make the background transparent. This makes the transition from Infogram to your presentation seamless, without interfering with your template or background.

Branded colors

Infogram offers multiple fun, colorful themes for you to make your own. But, you can easily customize the colors of your charts to align with your brand and company messaging. We suggest you make all of your charts look the same so the flow of your presentation is consistent and natural.

Publish and Download

Now that your chart looks exactly how you want it, it’s time to publish and download your work. If you are preparing an Infogram chart for a presentation you’ll want to download it as a PNG, JPEG or GIF (if you have multiple datasets on one chart).

If you have a Pro, Business or Enterprise account simply click ‘Image’ instead of PDF when you get to the download screen. Here you can select the elements you want to download, switch the transparency, and adjust the height and width of your chart.

Add to Presentation

Once you have downloaded your chart, simply upload the file to your presentation. If you downloaded a PNG file you can see that no matter what template or theme you’ve chosen for your presentation, the transparent background makes your chart look polished and professional.
